Undergraduate students from the Abu Dhabi School of Management recently participated in an immersive educational trip to Qasr Al Hosn as part of their GED 100 – History and Culture of the Arab World course. Led by their instructor, Dr. Zainab Rawshdeh, and accompanied by Dr. Deepanjana Varshney, Head of the MSLOD program, the visit offered a deeper understanding of the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.
Qasr Al Hosn, Abu Dhabi’s oldest standing structure, holds deep historical significance as the city’s first permanent building. Originally constructed in the 18th century as a watchtower to protect the settlement, it later became the royal residence and the seat of government. The students had the unique opportunity to explore its exhibits, tracing Abu Dhabi’s transformation from a small fishing village to a modern metropolis.
Guided through the fort’s carefully curated displays, students engaged with artifacts, photographs, and interactive installations that highlighted the traditions, architecture, and governance of the region. The experience allowed them to witness history firsthand, fostering a deeper appreciation for the UAE’s cultural evolution and its enduring legacy.
This visit exemplifies ADSM’s commitment to experiential learning, enabling students to bridge historical knowledge with real-world insights. By connecting with the past in an authentic setting, they gained a profound understanding of the Arab world’s heritage and its influence on the present.
