Abu Dhabi, February 11, 2025 – The Abu Dhabi School of Management (ADSM) successfully hosted a Business Day Camp for students from Aldar Schools, aimed at nurturing their entrepreneurial mindset through an interactive business simulation. The event brought together around 65 students from various Aldar schools, providing them with hands-on experience in managing a business.
Dr. Valerie Lindsay, Acting Dean of ADSM, led the session, with the esteemed presence of Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Chairman of ADSM, Dr. Marc Poulin, Acting President of ADSM, and Mr. Ian Pugh, Principal of Al Ain British Academy. Their insights and encouragement inspired students as they navigated the complexities of business operations.
The highlight of the camp was the “Coffee Shop” simulation, developed by Sims Institute, an Ed-Tech company based in Dubai. Students from Year 10 to 12, formed teams to create and manage virtual coffee shops, making strategic business decisions related to startup operations, branding, and market expansion. They also engaged in designing logos and marketing materials to enhance their business identity.
A panel of expert judges—Dr. Zainab Rawshdeh, Dr. Mahima Mishra, Dr. Divya Upadhyay, Dr. Razan Masri, and Dr. Constance Van Horne—evaluated the teams based on their profitability, creativity, and overall strategy. The students demonstrated great enthusiasm and competitiveness, making the selection of winners a difficult decision. Two winning teams were chosen in different categories: one based on the highest revenue generated from the simulation, and the other for the best poster and presentation. The posters were so impressive that the judges faced difficulty in selecting a single winner.
Dr. Lindsay praised the students for their enthusiasm and problem-solving skills, stating, “The energy and creativity displayed by these young students are truly commendable. Their ability to apply business concepts in real-time highlights their potential as future leaders.”
ADSM remains committed to experiential learning, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The Business Day Camp reinforced the institution’s mission to equip students with essential entrepreneurial skills, preparing them for future success in the ever-evolving business landscape.
This collaboration was made possible with the support of Ms. Lakmee Senadheera, Business & Enterprise Coordinator for the Academy of Excellence Program.
