Michigan State University (MSU) students made a visit to the ADSM campus on January 2, as part of their education abroad program. Students draw from across MSU’s different programs to take undergraduate courses in Global Studies, Arab Cultural Studies, Public Affairs, or Interdisciplinary Humanities. MSU’s courses focus on tradition/modernity in the Emirates — how the past is remembered and the future is imagined – as well as looking at the relationship and tradeoffs of development and consumerism with building community and shared identities. A guest lecture was given by Ms. Hanan Sayed Worrell – a specialist in international and cultural projects, who presented on the UAE’s emergence as a hub for contemporary art.
